ADD A REMOTE

#syntax: git add remote [alias] [url]
# - an alias for the url
# - the location of the project
git remote add origin [email protected]:/opt/git/project.git

REMOVE A REMOTE

git remote rm [email protected]:/opt/git/project.git

SHOW REMOTE ALIASES AND URLS

#show all the remote aliases and urls git knows about
git remote -v
#show all the remote aliases(only) that git knows about
git remote

SHOW DETAILS ABOUT REMOTE PROJECT

#syntax: git remote show [alias]
#returns detail about the project such as branches being tracked
git remote show origin

RENAME A REMOTE ALIAS

Changes the alias name that we use to refer to a remote.
#syntax: git remote rename [old_alias] [new_alias]
git remote rename origin myrep
